Here is a blast from the past! This is a vintage 1960's fudge recipe and back in the late 1960's brown sugar fudge was very popular! This flavor of fudge is rarely available in the retail market anymore so if you like brown sugar fudge you more or less have to make it yourself at home. I do recommend that you use a candy thermometer to ensure your fudge making success.
Homemade Brown Sugar Fudge Recipe
3 cups light brown sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
1 1/2 tbsp. butter (not margarine)
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Combine the sugar and evaporated milk in a large saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula. Once it starts boiling start checking the temperature of the mixture with a candy thermometer. The mixture is done once it reaches 236 degrees F on your thermometer. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract. Beat mixture with an electric mixer for 3-4 minutes or until it starts to firm up. Pour mixture into a greased 8" by 8" baking dish. Let it cool for 1-2 hours before cutting it into squares.
