Every year around the holidays my mother always makes us a batch of these delicious Cream Cheese Dainties and they are super good! My family actually calls these Carol's Christmas Cookies and we all look forward to them every year!
Cream Cheese Dainties Cookies Recipe
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup Rice Krispies Cereal (crushed up)
red and green candied cherries
In a large mixing bowl, combine the first 4 ingredients together. Stir in the all-purpose flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Cover bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Remove and shape dough into small balls. Roll the balls into the crushed Rice Krispies Cereal and place the balls on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Press a candied cherry onto the top of each ball.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and place baking sheets in the oven to bake for 12 to 14 minutes. Remove from oven and transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.
