In working towards a world without cancer, juicing has shown to provide significant health benefits to cancer patients.
Juicing provides strong nutritional value from the presence of antioxidants, enzymes and phytonutrients.
· Antioxidants protect the body from cellular damage. Juiced fruits and veggies provide antioxidants that can possibly slow or prevent cancer development, while improving strength and stamina.
· Enzymes are present in a variety of raw fruits and vegetables. Juicing retains enzymes that help eliminate toxins in the body.
· Phytonutrients can be obtained through fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and legumes. Amongst the health benefits of phytonutrients, they have been found to fight cancer and provide an immune system boost.
Some of the best juicing ingredients for cancer patients? Carrots, beets, greens, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus and wheatgrass. Items from the ground tend to be the best.
In celebration of creating a cancer-free world, this February 4th, World Cancer Day, OMEGA Juicers (www.omegajuicers.com) shares fruit and vegetable juice recipes filled with antioxidants, enzymes and phytonutrients.
Veggie Juice
· 1 Cup of Spinach
· ½ Cucumber
· 2 Stalks of Celery
· 3 Carrots
· ½ Apple
Juice cucumbers with their skins on. The dark green skin is a great source of chlorophyll, a phytochemical that can help build red blood cells. Make sure to wash cucumbers before juicing*.
Tropical Fruit Juice
· 1 Orange
· ½ Mango
· 1 Slice of Fresh Pineapple
· 1 Slice of Watermelon
· 5 Strawberries
Remove all the peel and seeds before putting the orange, mango, pineapple and watermelon into the juicer*.
*For these recipes, Omega recommends using a masticating style juicer like their Vert VRT350 Low Speed Juicing System to give you the highest degree of extraction and the healthiest possible juice.
