I love to make homemade doughnuts for my family, but there are times when I am in a hurry and turn to an easy recipe like this homemade doughnut holes one that I got from my daughter a few weeks ago.
They are really easy to make and taste absolutely delicious! You probably have all of the ingredients in your pantry right now and can whip up a batch later today. Enjoy!
Homemade Cinnamon & Sugar Doughnut Holes Recipe
1/4 cup vegetable oil
+ additional vegetable oil for pan frying
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 cup milk
Topping: 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar and 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
In a large mixing bowl, combine together the all purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, ground nutmeg and ground cinnamon. Stir in the lightly beaten egg, milk and vegetable oil until all ingredients are well blended together.
Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet until it is about 1" in depth. Bring it up to a boil over medium-high heat. Use a tablespoon and drop the dough into the hot oil. Simmer the doughnut holes (dough balls) in the hot oil until they are golden brown. Remove from the oil and place them onto a plate lined with 3 paper towels.
In a small mixing bowl, combine together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll the hot doughnut holes (balls) into the sugar/cinnamon mixture until coated. Remove and place them onto a plate to cool. Enjoy!
