I love homemade breads and I love a sweet dessert bread even more! This recipe is one that I got from my great auntie about 15 years ago and to this day...it's one of our favorites!
Homemade Sweet Monkey Bread Recipe
2 loaves frozen bread dough, thawed
4 oz. box instant butterscotch pudding mix
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
handful of chopped nuts (optional)
Thaw bread according to package directions. Break one loaf into pieces about the size of a small egg. Put into a lightly greased tube pan. Sprinkle 1/2 of the butterscotch pudding mixture on top and half of the chopped nuts (if using them). Break up the second thawed loaf and place that on top, follow with the rest of the butterscotch pudding mix and chopped nuts.
Melt the butter and add in the brown sugar. Pour this mixture over the top of the prepared bread. Cover and let rise for 2 to 3 hours. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. and bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until done. Remove and let cool. It can be served warm or at room temperature.
