Wild Planet Foods, the leading provider of sustainable seafood, is not only a great option because it’s sustainable and good for ocean life, but also because it’s healthier than tuna canned by the Big Three (and even Omega 3 pills for that matter).
While conventional tuna often boast that they’re “an excellent source of Omega 3” they cook their tuna twice in the can, depleting the fish of its natural juices and nutrients. Wild Planet on the other hand cooks their tuna only once.
* Wild Planet’s Wild Albacore Tuna: 1,384mg Omega 3 per serving
* Chicken of the Sea Albacore Tuna: 150mg Omega 3 per serving
* Starkist Solid Albacore Tuna: 360mg Omega 3 per serving
* Bumble Bee Solid White Albacore Tuna: 100mg Omega 3 per serving
I used one can of tuna to make a tuna fish sandwich one day for lunch and was really impressed with the quality and taste. It wasn't overly fishy, no chunky bone slivers and it just had a nice texture & taste. On another day, hubby and I made some cucumber tuna boats (you can find the recipe here on my blog) and really loved the tuna in those.
All of the Wild Planet Foods products that we got to review were delicious! We were very impressed with their quality, flavor, texture and ease-of-use. We will definitely be buying this products in the future.
You an learn more about Wild Planet Foods by visiting their web site and you can find some tasty recipes while you are there. Enjoy!
